Emerging Technologies
Rome’s roundtable will start from the “Statement on Generative AI” adopted by the G7 Privacy met in Tokyo in June 2023, with which Data Protection Authorities have committed to ensure that the development and progress of Generative AI is done according to mutual ethical and legal principles. Given AI’s infinite applications, in a world where the line between personal and non-personal data is fading more and more, the protection of personal data cannot be disregarded, and, since the circulation of personal data is a crucial factor for technological development, Data Protection Authorities must, therefore, be given a central role in strategic decisions on general AI as well as sectoral ones.
Data free flow with trust
“In the data era”, the 7 DPAs wish a free and responsible circulation of data, based on trust and accompanied by high protection standards as a prerequisite for the free circulation of data to support global economic development.
Enforcement cooperation
The 7 DPAs want to promote an international cooperation aimed at establishing new engagement rules worldwide, to ensure sustainable, inclusive, fair and just innovation and protect people’s rights and freedoms in a more effective way, while also safeguarding the economic development.
Artificial Intelligence
During the Summit, the Italian DPA will present their topic: “The role of Data Protection Authorities within the framework of AI Governance”.
