G7 Summit: President Stanzione Highlights Key Outcomes on Data Protection and AI
Mr. President, how was the meeting? Are you satisfied with the results?
The outcome of the work was beyond all expectations. In fact, we tackled the main topics from a legal, social, and economic standpoint. The G7 countries have different orders and perspectives, but they share a set of principles and regulations converging towards the prospect of a free, democratic society. This is where all the members widely agreed.Artificial intelligence was a key topic.
What do the authorities of the big 7 ask their governments?
First of all, we discussed artificial intelligence to promote it, not to hinder it, to support its evolution through a pattern, an anthropocentric structure that is respectful of the importance of the person. If this is the new technology, then it must be reliable. The most used word during the meeting today was trust, reliance, so to speak. And so governments must help and support the Data Protection Authorities to develop this perspective.
